About the Academy
Kurgan State Agricultural Academy was established in 1944.
Today, there are four faculties in the Kurgan State Agricultural Academy: biotechnology, engineering, agronomic and economics. More than seven thousand students study here.
There are 7 educational buildings, 7 dormitories, cultural centre, preventive clinic, extensive library, special reading rooms, modern computer auditoriums and science laboratories.
The students of the academy are winners of different competitions and exhibitions, festivals and sport competitions. For youth adaptation to a condition of real labour market, quality improvement of education and competitiveness of graduates in the academy there are new innovative structures: engineering business school and business incubator «Idea».
For studies and research there are ground agricultural equipment, experimental field, botanical area, model and highly pedigree herds of cows, sheep, pigs, horses and other animals.
Having a high scientific, educational, intellectual capacity of scientists and experts, Kurgan Agricultural Academy is able to provide the required quality of education, and the solution of actual problems in all areas of agriculture in Zauralye.
Many of the science developments and inventions were successfully implemented in a number of farms in Zauralye and other regions of the country. The most significant science developments of the Academy are the selection of cattle breed, high productive breed of fine-fleeced sheep, the system of breeding, keeping and feeding of birds, production growth of complex winnower, social and economic mechanisms of the development of rural areas, adoption in the production resource-saving technologies of crop cultivation, safe system of protection of plants from hazardous organism.
The most successful students that show up in school, community life, receive personal scholarships.
To help students to get a job, the university is working to improve the system of employment.
Agronomy faculty
Agronomy Faculty operates from the date of the academy institution (1944).
Today 5 professors and doctors of science, more than 25 associate professors and candidates of science successfully work at the faculty. The faculty of the agronomic faculty pays a lot of attention to both scientific and educational work. The research results are published in central journals, collections of scientific works, reported at regional, all-Russian and international conferences. Teaching and learning aids with the ULV heading are regularly published.

The departments of the faculty have specialized laboratories for conducting classes in all disciplines included in the educational standard (24 laboratories in total), which are equipped with modern equipment (made in Hungary, Poland, Germany). There are also laboratories for research work by graduate students and staff. Each department has computers that are used to process the experimental material. There is an interdepartmental agrochemical laboratory, an interdepartmental laboratory of biotechnology is being formed. Due to the increasing importance of training students in the field of IT-technologies, computer classes are equipped at the faculty, a free Wi-Fi zone is organized for students with unlimited Internet access.
Educational, scientific and practical training students pass on the experimental field of the agronomic faculty, on the basis of innovative enterprises of the agroindustrial complex of the region: NPA Kurgansemena, CJSC Potato, LLC Rassvet, agrofirm Magnolia, CJSC Gardens Zauralye, in various state structures: the branch of the Russian Agricultural Center in the Kurgan region, the state stations of the agrochemical service Kurgan and Shadrinskaya, the Office of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography in the Kurgan Oblast FBU Territorial Fund for Geological Information, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Kurgan Region, the material base of which contributes to the formation of practical skills of future specialists.
The department of land management, agriculture, agrochemistry and soil science pays great attention to the development of technological methods of cultivation of agricultural crops, the transformation of soil fertility in the agricultural landscapes of the Trans-Urals and agro-ecological methods of increasing it is being studied. The staff of this department took an active part in research on the "Mayak" system.
Employees of the Department of Ecology and Plant Protection are working on the problem of the sustainability of ecosystems under anthropogenic pressure in environmental management. The department makes a great contribution to the training of specialists in the field of ecology. Currently, much attention is paid to the issues of greening the protection of crops from populations of pests in the Trans-Urals.
The staff of the Department of Botany, Crop Production, Breeding and Seed Production is actively working to improve environmentally friendly resource-saving systems for realizing the productivity potential of varieties of agricultural and ornamental crops. A botanical site is established at the department, where lawn plants, fodder, flower, and medicinal crops are grown. Students under the guidance of teachers develop design projects of various territories.
Bio-technology faculty
The faculty operates from 1944.
The faculty began its activity in 1944 as a zootechnical and, together with agronomic one, became the ancestor of the Kurgan Agricultural Institute. The faculty immediately formed 6 departments: “Feeding and breeding farm animals” (head, Ph.D., associate professor Ruzhevsky AB), “Private zootechny” (acting head, c. Associate Professor Ruzhevsky AB), “Anatomy and Physiology of Farm Animals” (Head, Dr. biology, Professor Kvasnitsky AV), “Zoo-hygiene with the basics of veterinary medicine” (Head, Ph.D., Professor Muller F.F., “Chemistry” (Head, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Zimbler NE), “Mechanization of Agricultural Production” (Acting Head, D. technical professor, professor Kaz rtsev VI)
At present, the faculty has: two academic buildings; educational and scientific base, which was created by students of the faculty enthusiasts under the direct supervision of Professor B. D. Schultz on the territory of 3.5 hectares, where there are pavilions for the maintenance of farm animals, which are used in the educational process, as well as undergraduate and graduate students conduct research work; training and production laboratory for meat processing, created with the financial support of State Duma Deputy Alexander Vladimirovich Iltyakov and BCP "Veles". The faculty also has hostels that fully meet the need for non-resident undergraduate and graduate students in living.
The anatomical museum, which has 7 thematic expositions, more than 3 thousand drugs and dummies, plays an important role in the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
At the faculty there is an equestrian section with a modern competitive field where students and schoolchildren of Lesnikovsky Lyceum are actively involved.
The faculty of the faculty is 45 people, 42 - with degrees and titles, which is 93.33%, including 14 doctors and professors (31.1%). The share of scientific and pedagogical workers corresponding to the profile of the taught disciplines, implemented undergraduate programs is more than 70%. For outstanding achievements in increasing livestock production, the Staff Antonina Ivanovna and Lee En Bem were awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Sickle and Hammer gold medal.

One of the main factors in assessing the effectiveness of the activities of the faculty is the graduate employment rate. In recent years, a number of measures have been taken to increase the employment rate of graduates of the faculty. Monitoring of the employment of graduates of past years is carried out, on the basis of which an assessment of the relevance of future specialists is given; The faculty invites employers to defend graduate qualification papers and personal meetings with graduates.
Annually, on the basis of the faculty, job fairs are organized, which are attended by representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Processing Industry, district departments of agriculture, heads and specialists of farms, farmers, graduates of the faculty. During the event, preliminary agreements are reached and contracts for the employment of future graduates are concluded. In addition, representatives of the department of vocational training and vocational guidance of the General Directorate of Labor and Employment of the population of the Kurgan Region inform graduates about existing programs and initiatives in the region, including internships at enterprises. The result of cooperation is the successful employment of graduates.
Engineering faculty
The faculty was established in 1980 due to the goal of preparation of mechanical engineer for agriculture of Kurgan region.
The first set of students for the department of agricultural construction was 50 people who studied at the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization. In 1983, the department became an independent division of the institute, and in 1985 - a faculty for the training of engineers in the specialty "Agricultural construction".
In 1982, the Department of Architecture and Graphics (Head, Ph.D., Kozhunova LS) was created; in 1983, the Department of Construction Materials and Designs (head, associate professor Yakimenko V.A. ), in 1986 - the department of "Technology and organization of construction production" (head, professor Lebedev FK), the department "Fire and Industrial Safety" was established in 2008 (head, so-called, Professor Manilo II)
In 1977, the Kurgan State Agricultural Institute for the first time in Trans-Urals decided to organize the training of mechanical engineers for the agricultural sector of the Kurgan Region and adjacent regions. The first set of students for the department of agricultural mechanization, on the basis of the zoo-engineering faculty, was 50 people. Currently, about 500 students study in full-time and part-time departments of the faculty, more than 80 graduates and bachelors graduate annually.

Over the years, the faculty has trained more than 5,000 specialists. The graduates of the faculty work by specialty in many regions of the Russian Federation, as well as abroad. Some graduates serve in law enforcement agencies (Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Armed Forces of the Russian Federation). Hero of Russia (posthumously) was a graduate of the faculty, an employee of the FSB, Major Tyunin Andrei Vladimirovich.

Since 1967 economics faculty became base unit of the university. During it’s work the faculty prepared more than 10 000 economists of the highest qualification.
